34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup was held in Longgang District of Shenzhen from Feb. 19 to Feb. 23.
It is introduced that ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup is one of three most important table tennis games in Asia, together with ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships and Asian Games -- Table Tennis.
With the slogan “Asian Table Tennis Shines in Shenzhen”, 34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup symbolizes the high levels of Asian Table Tennis and the warm invitations to the game and the brilliance of the multiple factors. The mascot of 34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup is named “Pengpeng (朋朋)”, which has a homophonic connection with “Pengcheng (鹏城)” -- the nickname of Shenzhen. And, “Peng (朋)” usually means “friends” in Chinese as the old saying that “it’s extremely happy to welcome a friend from afar” goes. The name of the mascot “Pengpeng (朋朋)” shows the hearty welcome to friends overseas.

34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup is comprised of 2 events -- men’s singles and women’s singles, either with 32 top Asian table tennis players competing for the championship. And, 6 men’s players and 6 women’s players of China, including Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, were designated to take part in the game.
34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup took place at the Gymnasium of Shenzhen Universiade Center. According to the schedule, the players competed in the group stage lasting from Feb. 19 to Feb. 21, to gain the qualifications for the later finals. Next, the qualified players would compete for the titles through several rounds of finals from Feb. 22 to Feb. 23.
On Feb. 23 -- the last day of the game, Wang Manyu won the championship of women’s singles, followed by Sun Yingsha and Kuai Man, who were respectively in the second and third places, while Wang Chuqin won the championship of men’s singles, followed by Liang Jingkun and Lin Shidong, who were respectively in the second and third places.
